Unavailable and Exclusive Products in the Wholesale Portal
As you begin to sell via the wholesale portal, you'll likely have products that you do not want available via the portal or that you want to selectively sell to certain customers. It may be a private label coffee, a co-branded coffee that's exclusive to just one customer or even coffee samples or certain grind offerings.
Make a Product Unavailable on the Portal
You can easily remove a single product from the portal by unchecking the "Available on portal" checkbox when editing a product.
- Click to edit the product on the Products page
- Scroll down to the "Portal" section
- Uncheck the "Available on portal" checkbox
- Click "Update Product" at the bottom of the page to save your updates
You will remove everyone's access to this product on the portal only by unchecking the "Available on portal" checkbox, and clicking "Update Product" at the bottom of the page.
Note: You will still be able to order this product via with a manual order. And the product can be mapped to commerce products that you sell on your website.
Make a Grind or Bag Unavailable or Exclusive on the Portal
You can also make a grind option or bag option unavailable on the portal or excluisve to certain customers. Please see the linked help docs above for more details.
You may want to prevent users from buying any ground coffees, or "purchasing" a sample bag that's meant to be only available internally.
- Visit the bag or grind page (available from the main Products menu)
- Click "Edit" on the grind or bag that you want to make unavailable
- Uncheck the box in the edit page, and click "Update" to save the new setting
Make a Product Exclusive to a Customer
You can easily assign a product to only be available to one (or more) customers while editing a product. But making the product exclusive, this product will only show up on the selected customer's portal.
Note: You can't apply exclusivity to one variant. You may be able to have the desired affect with the combination of bag and grind exclusivity but within a product you can only apply exclusivity at the product level, not the variant level.
- Click to edit the product on the Products page
- Scroll down to the "Portal" section
- Click "Make product exclusive" and select at least one customer from the box below the checkbox.
- Click "Update Product" at the bottom of the page to save your updates
Note: You can make a product exclusive but the customer will still be able to other products. If you're wanting to limit who can see a product, it's best to use product categories, catalogs or the buy again page. (depending on what your needs are).
