How to Create Customers with Multiple Shipping Addresses or Locations
Setting up your customers
In RoasterTools each customer can only have 1 shipping location. (In other words - You cannot have multiple shipping addresses for 1 customer). So each destination needs to be set up as its own customer. We want to minimize the risk of sending coffee to the wrong location.
You can assign 1 contact to multiple customers (ex. 1 person orders for many stores).
You can also map multiple customers in RoasterTools to 1 customer in Quickbooks.
- First, for each location create an individual customer.
- Assign a contact to each customer. If you’d like to have 1 contact order for multiple locations, you can assign that contact to more than one customers (see contact help doc)
- Once all the locations have been created as separate customers, they can either be mapped to mirroring unique customers in QB or to a single accounting customer in the customer settings:
Placing Orders for Multiple Locations
When assigning a single contact to each one of the customers, this allows the contact to switch between locations(accounts) portals when placing orders more easily.
Here's how to set it up:
- Create each location as a new customer
- Assign the same contact to all of these newly created customers
- Manage which account you want to order from your login page
When customers that are assigned to multiple locations log in, they will be prompted to choose from which account they want to order from:
Once an order has been placed in an account, you can switch to the next customer from inside your portal, you just need to go to the 3 line menu>Change customer.
Which will lead you back to the login page and select another account.
