Credit Memos: How to Apply Credit to an Order
Apply all or part of a Credit Memo to any unpaid order for that customer. Whatever you don't use stays on the memo for next time.
Watch: Applying credit and syncing to accounting (5 min)
- Open the order and click Pay….
- In the Select Payment Method panel, click Credit Memos. It shows how many memos the customer has.
- Choose the Credit Memo.
- Click Apply $X to use as much as the order needs, or Apply partial amount to type a smaller amount.
- If there's still a balance, the panel reopens with the new balance. Collect the rest with the customer's usual payment method.

The order shows Credit Applied in its totals, and the history shows which memo was used.
Example: a customer has a $60 credit and a $40 order. Apply $40, and $20 stays on the memo.
