Credit Memos: How to Change Your Credit Memo Numbers

Credit Memos are numbered with an R-CM prefix starting at 1001 (for example, R-CM1001). You can change the prefix, and the starting number before your first memo.

Before you start: You can only change the starting number before you issue your first Credit Memo, and it can only go up. The prefix can be changed any time.

  1. Go to Settings > Sales > Credit Memo Numbers.
  2. Enter a Prefix: up to 4 capital letters or dashes, starting with a letter.
  3. If you haven't issued a memo yet, set Starts From.
  4. Save.

After your first memo, the tab shows Next credit memo number instead of Starts From.
